16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Father, thank you for your blessing upon my life last year. When I look back on my life in 2017, I recognize that your blessing was abundant upon me, though I made many mistakes and sins against you. Particularly, your word was sweeter than honey for my soul. You also blessed me in every circumstance, like your abundant provision, your protection from sickness and dangers, and your guidance in every path the entire year. Moreover, you used me as a bible teacher for the gospel work. Father, please let me reveal your glory and honor your name and share your blessing with your people. Help me to live by faith in every situation and glorify your name this year. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

First, God equipped me with his word in 2017

Last year, God granted me 2 Ti.3:16-17 as my life key verses. When I prayed for the life key verse, 2 Ti.3:16-17 came into my mind, and then I realized that God granted me these verses. He wanted me to be equipped with his word for our Columbia ministry. In fact, I was really amazed by his word last year. Most time, God granted me his word faithfully every week for the gospel work and guided me to serve our ministry and the Sunday messages in prayers. In this way, he opened my foolish mind to understand his word and receive its meaning. So I was greatly strengthened by his word.

When I look back on God’s work in the ministry, I realized that his work advanced in his way. The beginning of the Spring semester didn’t seem special. continued Bible study with the two pastors and my son. I also enjoyed our Tuesday’s bible study. Christine began to give her heart to meditate on the word of God through the bible studies. She struggled hard to study with Canwen, Alice, Chiara, Edith, DaMonique, and others. I was moved when she prayed with tears for wandering souls on campus. Mary, Benelly, and Jing also struggled hard to have bible studies with their bible students. And after our Spring conference, I was greatly encouraged by M. Caleb and Sarah Choi’s joining our ministry. Apparently, we were all happy and greatly encouraged.

Last year, Pablo and Ryan challenged themselves and struggled with Genesis and Exodus for the Sunday message. They wanted to grow in faith with the word of God and to participate in the ministry practically.

Last year, my bible student, P. Yu wanted to join world mission for South America as he wanted before, and so we stopped bible study from September. But I was thankful, because P. Byun began to organize the Elders bible ministry from June, and established his ministry every week. I was also encouraged by my son’s spiritual desire to study the Bible faithfully, although he struggled with many worldly desires. I continue to pray for him to meet Jesus personally and be transformed to be a man of faith.

Last year, one of important work of God was DaMonique’s new life in New York with us. It was a new event to me in our ministry. The first time, I didn’t believe she would move from her home in LA to live in New York, but after she graduated, she moved to New York and then she got a job in Apollo theater and participated in the ministry. It was obviously the grace of God. I was amazed at her decision and gave thanks to God. Her testimony sharing on Friday became a great encouragement for us.

Last Fall’s ministry was another great encouragement for all of us. I believe that God sent us William Tong in his mercy and grace for our ministry. He is in fact, God’s gift, as we didn’t do any special thing for him. I also believe that his faithful participation in the Campus Life Meetings encouraged other students to join faithfully. Last year, our Campus Life Meetings were also unexpected gracious work of God. It seemed that God showed us his encouragement through sending students every Wednesday. I praise and thank God, our heavenly Father, for his mercy and grace and his blessing upon me last year.

Another thankful event to me was our son Samuel’s decision. Last August, he moved into our house and his sons got into good schools in the city. M. Ruth suffered a lot in taking care of him and our two grandsons for three years.  In fact, she prayed for them everyday and for Samuel to move to us, and God heard her prayer. Everything was done as she prayed. Our son was also happy and thankful to God.

But on the other hand, I was prayerful for Pablo and his family after he got a stroke. But I gave thanks to God for his minor stroke and complete recovery. It was a thankful event among us.

I continue to pray for our precious coworkers, Ryan and Jing, Pablo and Benelly, Caleb and Sarah, Mary, DaMonique, and Christine. I also continue to pray for God’s servants, M. Barry, P. Abraham Kim, Dr. John Jun, P. Moses Lee(Korea director), Nehemiah Kim,  and P. David Baik.

Second, the servant of God must be equipped by the word of God 2018

For this year, I should stay in 2 Ti.3:16-17, because God strengthened me with his inspiring word last year. I deeply acknowledged that I must meditate on the word of God day and night and have the gospel message every week. I want to be like a tree planted by streams of water and yield its fruit in season and be prosperous, like Ps.1:2-3. Then, how can I yield plenty of fruit in season and prosperous as a tree by streams of water? When I prayed for my fruitful life, Lk.3:8 came into my mind. Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

I believe that God granted me this verse for my fruitful life by repentance this year; otherwise, he can’t accept me as a descendant of Abraham, for he blesses everyone who turns away from their sins and obeys his word by faith as Abraham did.

I also should help others to live a fruitful life of repentance so that they may be mature and sanctified in their life of faith. I pray that we may be mature by the word of God and fruitful this year.

Dear Father, thank you for granting me your LKV this year. Please use me as your servant who is fully equipped by your word, and strengthen me to bear fruit of repentance. Bless all our coworkers to have the right key verse and use them as your servants this year. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen

“Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.”
